Transgender darts throwers oppose federation’s new gender policy

World Darts Federation Earlier this week, we decided that women’s competition would not allow biological men, who are transgender women.

One trans dirt thrower opposed the decision Long Instagram postscalling it “a loss to the sports trans community.”

“Once again, it’s a loss to the sports trance community. It breaks my heart. As a trance person in the darts world, I know of inclusion that is not just paper, but actually important.”

Van Reuben added that “fairness” is coming at the expense of “exclusion.”

“It’s disappointing to see yet another policy surrounded by ‘equity’ that is ultimately eliminated without truly considering the people behind the label. My mind goes to all athletes who have been influenced by this.

Van Reuben has arrived twice in the WDF Dutch Open semi-finals in 2023 and 2024, but has since moved to the professional darts championship circuit. Van Reuben has won six women’s PDC titles.

Two of Van Reuven’s former Dutch teammates have resigned to Van Reuven joining the PDC. Last year, British female darts player Deta Headman I refused to play Van Leuven in the WDF event.

Van Leuven is also taking part in an open event featuring both biological men and women.

PDC executive Matt Porter said in November that the organization’s policy on transslators was “fair.” There were no plans for changes Rules despite the UK Supreme Court’s decision regarding the definition of the terms “male”, “female”, and “sex.”
