Trump activates National Guard in Arkansas, a tornado-rising state
President Donald Trump on Sunday Activated the National Guard Tornadoes, tornadoes and strong winds ripped through multiple states over the weekend, killing at least 37 people before hitting Arkansas.
A fierce wind tore Heartland and threatened on Saturday. Mississippi, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas Texas and Oklahoma will damage buildings and homes with tornadoes. Northern states, including South Dakota and Minnesota, are facing warnings of a snowstorm.
“We are actively monitoring the serious tornadoes and storms that have affected many states in the South and the Midwest. 36 innocent lives have been lost and even more devastated,” Trump said in a post on X Sunday.
“The National Guard is deployed in Arkansas and my administration is ready to support the state and local officials. They help the community try to recover from the damage, the president wrote.

The National Guard tweeted that Arkansas officials will “assist civilian authorities providing safety and humanitarian assistance to tornado-affected communities in central and eastern Arkansas.”

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders On Sunday, he said there are around 50 national security guards and 40 state police on the ground in Arkansas.
“When you drive through this community, you take care of each other and see so many neighbors coming out,” she said in a video posted to X.

In an X post, Sanders said he spoke to Trump over the phone. He said, “I’m here to tell the Arkansas people that I love them and help him and his administration to follow the tornado last night.”
Missouri resident Dakota Henderson told The Associated Press that he and several others rescued a neighbor trapped under a tile rub on Friday evening, finding five bodies in the process.

“It’s really bothering me what happened to those who were the victims last night,” Henderson told the Associated Press on Saturday.

Evacuations were ordered Friday in some areas of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri and New Mexico.
Strong winds have caused wildfires on the southern plains, allowing severe storms and tornadoes in the panhandle of eastern Louisiana, western Georgia, central Tennessee, western North Carolina, south Carolina and western Florida.
