Trump administration launches FTC probes for transgender care disclosure


President Donald Trump’s administration began investigating whether healthcare providers misrepresent or have not disclosed the risks of transgender procedures and care this week.

The Federal Trade Commission released its investigation on Monday, giving consumers a window through September 26th, moving forward with concerns that they were “exposed to false or unsupported claims about “gender-maintaining care” particularly related to minors.” The FTC held a workshop earlier this month to explore potential “deceptive trade practices” related to gender-related treatments.

“The FTC is trying to assess whether consumers (particularly minors) have been harmed and whether medical professionals or others are violating sections 5 and 12 of the FTC Act.

In May, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) published a comprehensive review of best practices for children and teens Gender discomfort. New scrutiny has resulted in providers like the National Hospital of Children Washington, DC, No longer provides gender transition-related medical interventions.

We are always welcome at Children’s National for other medical needs.”
