Trump and donors covering the $200 million cost of the new White House Ballroom


The White House said the president Donald Trump Private donors will fund the estimated $100 million in new ballroom costs.

White House press chief Karoline Leavitt said Thursday that construction is scheduled to begin in September and that it will be completed long before the end of President Trump’s term.

The announcement came after a similar gesture when Trump personally funded the installation of two 88-foot American flags in early 2025. White HouseEach is reportedly costing around $50,000.

“The White House is currently unable to celebrate its major features World leaders In other countries, there is no need to install a large, unsightly tent about 100 yards from the main building’s entrance, Leavitt said, adding that the new ballroom will be a “very necessary and exquisite addition.”

She said the US Secret Service will provide the security enhancements and fixes needed during construction.

The project aims to provide dedicated space for official events, state dinners and large ritual gatherings.

The new 90,000 square feet addition will accommodate approximately 650 seating guests and remain true to the White House classic design.

The White House does not have an official ballroom, and the new ballroom will replace the White House’s current East Wing.

Leavitt said the East Wing office, which includes First Lady’s office and White House Visitors Office, will be temporarily relocating.

Leavitt said Trump chose McClary Architect to design the project.
