Last October, Trump sued CBS News and Paramount for $10 billion over allegations of election interference, including a “60-minute” interview with then-President Kamala Harris, which aired weeks before the presidential election (that amount jumped to $20 billion).
The lawsuit alleges that CBS News deceived and edited the exchange held by “60 minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker and Harris. Harris was widely laughed out About the answer to “Word Salad,” which aired in a preview clip of the “Face the Nation” interview.
However, if the same question was aired during the Primetime Special on the network, Harris responded differently, more concisely. Critics at the time accused CBS news of deceiving Harris’s “ward salad” answer and compiling it to protect Democratic candidates from further backlash until Election Day.
The raw transcript and footage released earlier this year by the FCC showed that both sets of Harris’ comments came from the same response, but CBS News aired only the first half of her answer in the “Face the Nation” preview clip, and the second half aired during the Prime Time Special.
CBS News denied fraud and supports the broadcast and its report.

Paramount’s ruling shareholder Shari Redstone, who rejected himself from the February settlement debate, has revealed he wants to settle Trump’s lawsuit in the hopes of clearing the path of a multi-billion-dollar planned merger with Skydance Media, seeking approval from the Trump administration from the FCC.
But there have been newsroom dramas in recent months, including Redstone’s efforts to “monitor” Trump’s network reports, at least until the merger closes. That led to the sudden resignation of “60 Minutes” executive producer Bill Owens.
It was also the expulsion of CBS News CEO Wendy McMahon last week that fueled the reconciliation rumours, citing disagreements with the company behind her departure.

CBS News Journalists remain rebellious, including “60 minutes” correspondent Scott Perry. Condemn Trump and his lawsuit.
“Why attack universities? Why attack journalism? Because ignorance works for power,” Perry told Wake Forest alumni. “First, let those seeking the truth live in fear, and sue them to the journalists and their companies for anything, and send masked agents to them.
