Trump signs an executive order requiring him to vote for US citizenship registration

“I’m honored to sign this,” he added. “I sign all of them, but signing this is a great honor.”
The United States has “failed to enforce basic and necessary election protections,” the order states.
Election experts quickly criticized the move, saying it would disenfranchise millions of voters.
“This executive order will block tens of millions of American citizens from voting,” says Brennan Center for Justice New York University “The president has no authority to do this. Like the current Save Act before Congress, this order will hurt voters and curb votes,” he wrote.
The American Voters Eligibility Act, known as the Conservation Act, is a bill promoted by Republicans who swept voter registrations, including requiring voters to present documents certifying US citizenship.

Under the terms of the order, Trump has directed the Election Assistance Committee to change its federal voter registration form to require evidence of citizenship issued by the government.
The order also attempts to prohibit mail-in voting by election officials receiving after election day.
