US military launches airstrikes against al-Shabaab terrorists near Somalia


US military Over the weekend, air strikes were carried out against al-Shabaab linked to al-Qaeda in Somalia.

Air strikes by the US African Command (AFRICOM) targeted an area near 40 miles northwest of Kismayo in Somalia, where Al-Shabaab is reportedly located.

According to an Africom press release, Al-Shabab “proves both his will and his ability to attack the US military.”

“Africom, line up Somali federal government And Somali forces continue to take action to reduce their ability to plan and implement attacks that threaten our US homelands, our troops and citizens abroad,” the press release read.

No further details regarding the units and assets have been released to ensure continued security of operations.

Somali’s East African country has been destroyed for decades by attacks and rebellion from Muslim terrorists from both ISIS. Al Shabaab.

The US Africa Command reported that it had carried out four airstrikes in April. Three are against ISIS terrorists and the other against al-Shabaab. The command said at least one of these strikes is against multiple targets.

For years, the US has supported Somali forces with airstrikes and other support against al-Shabaab extremist groups.

In the letter, Somalia provided “exclusive operational management” to “strengthen American involvement in the region” for the air bases of Berbera and Berdogul, and the ports of Berbera and Bosaso.

One of the ports, Berbera is located in an important city in Somaliland, and its long-standing claims as an independent state have not been internationally recognized.

Somaliland, a former British guardian, declared independence from Somalia in 1991 after the collapse of the central government. It maintained its own government, security forces, currency and held elections.
