Vance calls Cincinnati’s attacks “snarky” amid hiring crisis

Vice President JD Vance On Thursday, the city said it must resolve police recruitment issues after a beatdown in Cincinnati where men and women were attacked by multiple people.
“You were basically a woman who was an innocent bystander who punched her face by a grown man,” Vance said. A ruthless podcast. “It’s been investigated. Hopefully, those people will go to trial. It’s a really nasty act of violence.”
“Part of the story is that the Cincinnati Jazz Festival didn’t have enough police officers. Why aren’t there enough police officers? Because there aren’t enough police officers in Cincinnati,” he added.

Vice President JD Vance said Thursday that the federal government will help cities solve law enforcement recruitment challenges in the United States after women and men were attacked by multiple Cincinnati people.

“I think it’s the biggest thing, but obviously we can help with this at the federal level, but the most important thing that states and cities can do is actually solve the challenges we have in law enforcement recruitment,” he said.

Authorities previously said five people had been charged, three of whom had been arrested.
Cincinnati Police Chief Teresa Tegge Six people said Friday they were charged with felony assault and worsening riots. The city’s fugitive arrest squad is pursuing three suspects who have not yet been captured.
“We have to get the best and brightest things in law enforcement,” Vance said. “I think the most important thing is local government. You know, you still have the sloppy memories of a lot of blue metropolitan mayors, maybe some people, police movements. Maybe they themselves were actually defending police. They said, “It’s okay, this was crazy.”

“We were able to support local police officers and we were able to bring good people back to law enforcement because almost every metropolitan police station is really understaffed,” he added.
