Warren demands that the SEC investigate Trump for insider trading and accuses “chaos” of unleashing tariffs
Massachusetts democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren He defended the Securities and Exchange Commission’s call to investigate President Donald Trump on accusations of market manipulation and insider trading, stating that such investigations were “completely appropriate.”

Warren, along with a handful of other Senate Democrats, including Ron Wyden of Oregon and Chuck Schumer of New York, wrote to the SEC chief on Friday asking for an investigation into alleged market manipulation following the announcement of Trump’s mutual tariffs and the subsequent 90-day suspensions, which were raised in foreign countries.
“We urge the SEC to investigate whether the tariff announcement that caused a market crash and a partial recovery that enriches the administration’s insiders and friends at the expense of the American people, and whether there is prior knowledge that insiders, including the president’s family, have abused them to trade stocks prior to the president’s announcement.

When asked on Sunday if Warren had actually seen evidence of alleged insider trading, she replied: “Well, just before he made that announcement that he had spiked the stock market, there are people who call on what happened to the purchase.”
She continued on Sunday that Congressional members should also be subject to rules prohibiting individual shares.
