“We want more” – Arteta looks ahead after Arsenal defeats Real Madrid to reach the Champions League semi-finals

Mikel Arteta claims that his Arsenal player is “hunger” and “want more” after knocking out champion Real Madrid to reach the Champions League semi-finals.

PSG is waiting for Arteta’s side after winning a 2-1 total victory as goals from Buca Yosaka and Gabriel Martinelli won 2-1 at the Bernabeu, creating a memorable display with two legs.

Saka had previously seen his missing penalty be saved and Vinicius’ juniors actually levelled, but Arsenal experienced an incredibly troubleless night in the Spanish capital, booking their place in the last four for the first time in over a decade.

Arsenal manager and real great rival Barcelona former player struggled to hide his joy in the final whistle

“(It’s) one of the best nights of my soccer career,” Arteta said.

“We played against a team with the biggest history of inspiring us all in this competition.

“I think we need to be extremely proud of ourselves to be able to win the tie the way we did it.

“It was my first experience with that (Bernabeu) touchline and I realized a few minutes later that something could happen at this stadium.

“It’s only the third time we’ve done (to reach the semi-finals) in the history of the club. We need to build on that. We’re really hungry and want more. We’re a very determined young team. These experiences help us achieve big things.

“We were going to beat this team and we totally believed we could control them. Then you had to do that and the players did it.”

Arteta claimed that the victory would give his team a lot of confidence in the two-legged semi-finals, but he believes that a rigorous Test is waiting for his team.

Looking forward to PSG, the Arsenal boss added: “They’re an incredible team. I really know my manager (Luis Enrique) so enjoy it tonight and start thinking about it right away.

“They’re just another team right now. They’re running incredible at the moment, but we showed what team we can compete against tonight.

“The mindset is going to be well prepared and done. We want to stand in that final. We have to work hard and do a lot of good things, but we certainly can do that.”
