Wegmans grows retail footprints at three new East Coast stores in 2024

The retail footprint of the popular American grocery store chain is growing more than this year thanks to customer demand.
Wegmans Food Markets will open in Rockville, Maryland next week and will be available for release in Norwalk, Connecticut in July.
The Norwalk store, scheduled to debut on July 23rd, marks Wegman’s first location Constitutional stateaccording to the company.

The opening will add to more than 110 stores on the state’s east coast, including New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, Delaware and the District of Columbia.

Budget grocery chain Aldi is set to open hundreds of US stores amid the fear of a recession
Wegmans has more store openings in the pipeline.
Charlotte, North Carolina The company plans to launch the Wegmans location at Fox Business in the second half of 2026.
Holly Springs, a town in North Carolina, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Wegmans can also hope to bring stores to future regions, according to the chain’s website’s Future Store Locations page.
The timeline for when these two locations begin serving customers has not yet been revealed, Wegmans told Fox Business.
Costco will open 27 locations this year and close on 1,000 sites.
Grocery Store Chain The first plans for a location in the Pittsburgh area were announced in mid-January. According to a press release, the Wegmans store is expected to be the company’s “first entry into the Pittsburgh region,” with approximately 115,000 square feet within the combined development.
“Since we opened our first Pennsylvania store more than 30 years ago, we have received thousands of Wegman requests in the Pittsburgh area,” said Vice President of Wegmans Real Estate and Store Planning Dan Aken. “We look forward to finding the perfect place to take Wegman to the Pittsburgh area.”
