West Ham midfielder Lucas Paketa has resolved spot correction fees
West Ham midfielder Lucas Paketa escapes spot correction fees and faces no punishment from the Football Association.
Paketa was accused of trying to book himself to affect the betting market so that his friends and family could benefit.
Brazil International was warned in 2002-23 against Leicester, Aston Villa and Leeds, and in postseason matches against Bournemouth. Each game was the subject of a questionable betting pattern, mostly following the island of Paketa off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, where players were born and took his name from there.
Paketa has been charged with four violations
The 27-year-old was charged with four violations of FA Rule E5.1. This is “related to players who are attempting to influence the progress, behavior, or other aspects of these matches, by intentionally requesting that they receive cards from the judge for the inappropriate purpose of affecting the betting market in order to affect the betting market.”
Paketa denied the charges and found them in his favor by an independent regulatory commission.
Two charges were supported: “Question of failure to comply with the obligation to answer questions and provide information to the FA’s investigation,” but the regulatory commission now had to decide on appropriate sanctions.
