Following Paris Saint-Germain’s historic Champions League victory on Saturday, two teams have been confirmed competing in the UEFA Super Cup this season.

What is the UEFA Super Cup?
The UEFA Super Cup is a one-off game that marks the official start of the European football season by catching the winner of the previous season’s Champions League against the Europa League Champions.
The creator of Dutch reporter and newspaper editor Anton Witkamp officially began in 1973 and was renamed the UEFA Super Cup in 1995 with the original name, Super Competition, and later the European Super Cup.
The 1972 final between the Ajax and Rangers is considered unofficial by UEFA as Scottish clubs were banned from European competition due to fan troubles in the 1972 European Cup Winners Cup final.
As a result, UEFA refused to support the competition until the next season. There, Ajax defeated the Rangers 6-3 on two legs in total.
The first Super Cup officially recognized and supported by European football governing bodies was in 1973, once again won by Ajax.
Real Madrid is the current owner and is also the most successful club in the contest with six titles.
The French team never won the Super Cup, but this will be the second appearance of PSG after losing the 1996 edition to Juventus.
This will be the first time that Spurs has had a Super Cup. So, whatever the result is a new name for the trophy this year,

The 2025 UEFA Super Cup will be held on Wednesday, August 13th with kickoffs at 8:00pm (UK time).
If the score is level after 90 minutes, there is no extra time, so the collision is determined by a penalty shootout.
The timing will be far from ideal for the Spurs, where the 2025-26 Premier League season begins just two days later.
Where is the 2025 Super Cup?
The Super Cup will be held at Study Oriuli in Udin, home to Italy’s top flightside Udinese.
The stadium has a capacity of 25,144.
