When Sarr Stunner won it for Spurs, Gyoker beaten in Gunners’ debut
Viktor Gyoker made his Arsenal debut, but was unable to prevent his new side from being defeated 1-0 by Tottenham in the first North London Derby.
Gyokeres, The £55 million signature from fans of Sporting CP and The Man Gunners hopes they will score a goal to help them lift the silverware in the endwas given the final 13 minutes in Hong Kong, but made little impression as the Spurs were holding.
Thomas Frank’s side won it thanks to Purp Saal’s amazing 40-yard effort at the halftime stroke.
The Spurs carry a major threat from now on, attacking woodworkers three times in the first half before taking advantage of an error from Arsenal defender Miles Lewis Skelly.
Gunners goalkeeper David Raya escaped from the goal of playing a short pass to the England fullback, but he was confiscated by Sarr.
It was well proven in a talented encounter that lost a bit of its first half edge due to a replacement raft when the game wore it.
Tottenham under the Coche early
Arsenal jumped out of the block and saw a shot of Martin Odegard being heavily stripped within 40 seconds of opening.
William Saliba then headed narrowly and wide after a frayed shot of Odegard fell kindly into the box for him.
The Spurs hadn’t made any progress, but Frank’s men reminded him of the goal from the first offense.
Pedro Polo’s corner drifted across the six-yard box, drifting against the far post where Richard Lison’s follow-up was blocked.
The Spurs were left to ease their bad luck two more times around the 30-minute mark.
The first shot from the edge of Wilson O’Dobert’s box was upright and from the resulting corner, Mohamed Kudus’ delivery returned from the post with almost carbon copy of previous efforts.
It seemed like there was no goal for the entertaining opening 45 minutes, but Sarr made the most of his opportunity to make the Spurs the deserved lead.
Gyoker introduced, but Arsenal couldn’t make a breakthrough
The Arsenal boss took ownership in the second half, but struggled to create a real opportunity for the memo.
Gabriel Martinelli shot down while Martin Zubimendi fired a deflected shot just above the bar.
Arteta turned his eyes to 15-year-old Max Dowman in front of Gyoker and the young man, providing a near equalizer, but his shot was blocked backwards.
Gyoker finally seemed to be yelling loudly from Arsenal fans inside the Kai Tai Stadium, but he rarely had the opportunity to be moved.
