When the Rangers irritate Athletic Bilbao, Andreonana should forget while Liam Kelly shines
The Rangers bravely maintained a controversial goalless draw against Athletic Bilbao in the first leg of the Europa League quarterfinals despite playing 77 minutes with 10 men.
The Basque side must have fantasized the chance that Rangers defender Robin Propper would claim the advantage of returning to Saint Mamems when Rangers defender Robin Propper was sent via VAR intervention due to a poor challenge at Inaki Williams in just 13 minutes.
The Rangers, however, held most of the time, had to get on luck with goalkeeper Liam Kelly, who was preferred in place of Jack Butland and who justified his inclusion with a series of fine saves.
The vibrant Malone Sannady thought he had won a penalty after a dangerous challenge from Leon Balogun, but his claims were shaken away.
Then Sannady widened the distance 58 minutes after he was held onto the right wing cross.
Athletic finally thought they had an opener when Alex Bellenger slotted the house after a fine save from Kelly, just to have Val intervened for a potential handball from Rangers defender Dujon Sterling.
The goal was then ruled out, and the athletic awarded a penalty Behrenger missed, and his spot kick hit Kelly midway, rebounding over the bar.
Penalty saved by Kelly 🧤
After a long Var check that Bilbao thought he scored, he was only ruled out for offside, but instead he was given a penalty against handball.

The 12-minute pause caused by Bailey Rice’s nasty injury led the Rangers to finish the game with nine men after Sterling couldn’t continue after Barry Ferguson used all his replacements.

Andre Onana endured a night of forgetting as Manchester United wasted the slow advantage to attract 2-2 in Lyon.
The Cameroonians who were involved in the war of words with Nemanja Matic before the game were responsible for both Lyon’s goals.
First, he saw the wings flapping with a free kick from Thiago Armada, the ball floating in his far post.
United fought back with a goal from Renee Yoro, replacing Joshua Zildzi and seemed to have done enough when Onana spilled Armada’s shot on Rayan’s path during five minutes of injury time. Cherki returns the Leveler home.
Lyon’s goal was delayed! 💥
Andre Onana’s saves spill over dangerous areas, and Rayan Cherki doesn’t make any mistakes.

Polo’s goal isn’t enough as Spurs are retained
Tottenham dominated Aintrak Frankfurt, but failed to get the advantage of the first leg thanks to a combination of bad luck, poor finishes and impressive goalkeeping from Kaua Santos.
Hugo Ekitike’s early goals placed the Bundesliga side ahead, but Spurs thrust into Pedro Porro’s clever back heel efforts.
Lucas Bergvall and Rodrigo Bentancur hit woodworking in the second half, but Santos pulled out many impressive saves, including the Micky Van de Ven header halted deep into the bar.
Ah, my word Causanthos 😯
The Frankfurt Keeper denies the Spurs winner when Van de Ven dies!
