White House conflict reports Trump confused Michigan lawmakers with “fake news.”

The NewsNation report initially contained a subheadline labelled “Trump is mistaken for Michigan Senator calling for each.”

The outlet appeared to think he was calling James a lawmaker trying to fire him each, but the video showed Trump addressed James to ask him questions.

News Nation updated its article Wednesday in a statement from the White House, which is challenging its characterization.

“The president was asking John James, who was in the crowd about Democrat Rep. Sri Taneder. If News Nations saw the actual exchange, they would have known that,” the White House said.

NewsNation report was also quoted in Politico Playbook Newsletter Wednesday morning.

Politico reported that “Donald Trump appears to be confused with John James and Shri Taneder,” and linked it to the News Nation report. White House comments were also included in their report.

When contacted for comment, the White House said Fox News Digital“The media is interested in pushing hoaxes to attack President Trump, and reporting the story right and truth. It’s not surprising that America’s trust in the media is at a historic low level, but the administration continues to call for fake news.”

Newsnation and Politico did not respond to requests for comment.
