Who will be the boss of Al-Nassr coach Cristiano Ronaldo next season?

Al-Nassr has confirmed the departure of manager Stefano Pioli, who will be joining Fiorentina.

Pioli took over at the Riad Club in September 2024, but failed to land major silverware despite the freedom of Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadiomane and John Duran.

It was his first job outside Italy at the age of 59, but he is set to make a quick return to Viola, who played between 1989 and 1995 and coached from 2017 to 2019.

Pioli leaves

A statement from Al-Nassr this morning stated, “Al-Nassr has officially announced the end of its contract relationship with first team coach Stefano Pioli.

“We appreciate all the effort he and his staff have made and hope they succeed.”

Pioli won the Serie A title as AC Milan boss before moving to Saudi Arabia. He was also named Serie a Coach of the Year.

Mark Breeze could be the next man

It was reported last week Belgian Mark Breeze was in the frame to take over Pioli at Al Nasr.

The 63-year-old, who is currently in charge of the Cameroon national team, has coaching experience in Saudi Arabia during his well-traveled career, where he saw him overseeing Belgian and Dutch teams.

Once Brees gets the job, he will have Ronaldo at his disposal for the next professional league season.

After being linked to Saudi rival Al Hailal and a short-term move towards one of the Club World Cup competitors, Ronaldo said he will remain in his next term.

He hopes the Riyadh Club will support its first major trophy since joining from Manchester United in 2022.

The 40-year-old has finished as a major professional league goalscorer in each of the last two seasons. In total, he scored 99 goals in 105 appearances for Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo finished the season at a high price and scored on a penalty shootout as Portugal defeated Spain in the final to win the Nations League.
