Will Capcut be banned on Tiktok? These options may be the answer

Facing a potential ban in the US, Tiktok received it Extended for 75 days Find US buyers approved by government officials. This keeps the app live for now, but also creates another looming deadline for Tiktok’s 170 million US users. For creators, delays mean months of uncertainty surrounding one of the most popular social media apps and one of the sister video editing app Capcut.

Video editing apps like Cap cut It is extremely popular with the rise of video first social media content. I have Capcut 200 million active users As of 2023, according to Time, it’s a favorite among creators. It’s versatile, has a free, paid plan and is compatible with social media giant Tiktoc. That’s why it’s a good time for video editors and creators to explore other editing programs. Whether you’re looking for a beginner program or want to improve your skills, there are good options. These third-party editing apps are especially useful if you are planning to share your video across multiple platforms. For example, editing in Tiktok means that you cannot save the video without a watermark.

We’ve rounded up some of the best options below, depending on your budget, skill level and operating system. Below is an alternative video editing program to use when Capcut is prohibited.

James Martin/CNET

Instagram has just started Free video editing app. It’s called edits and frankly capcut copycat. The editing was supposed to be released on March 13th, but was delayed until April 30th. The app is now available on both iPhone and Android.

Editing includes an in-app camera and a complete suite of creative tools with captions. You can share your video drafts with friends via DM and track your engagement as well as Instagram insights. Based on my initial test, the editing is not as feature-packed as some of our competitors, but it’s still a decent option.

apple

Apple’s Pro video editing program is exclusively for iPad and Mac users, but if it’s you, Final Cut Pro is definitely worth considering.

Final Cut Pro 11 was right there update In November 2024, several new AI-enabled tools were included. Magnetic masking, now available, helps to isolate specific objects for editing, provides caption transcription and can now handle spatial video editing. It handles basic video editing easily, but is designed as a more specialized program. However, for creators who are already proficient in the basics of Capcut, Final Cut Pro offers more advanced features that will help you level up your skills and content.

The cheapest way to use Final Cut Pro is to use your iPad for $5 per month (or $49 per year), and you can disable and reactivate your subscription if necessary. If you want to edit more comfortably on your Mac, you will need to cough out a one-time $300 payment, but it includes all future software updates.

Adobe

If you’ve seen Adobe Premiere Pro and have quickly been overwhelmed by the number of panels and windows, Premier Rush might be a good option for you. It’s kind of a premier pro light, with the added advantage of being free. It can be used on your mobile phone via the mobile app or as a desktop app.

Premiere Rush is designed to create social videos with in-app cameras to shoot. Its editing capabilities are basic but comprehensive so you might have everything you need. You can also easily record narrations and import audio. Overall, it is a solid option for people looking for video editing skills without spending money.

veed.io

CNET spoke Last summer, with Veed.io CEO and co-founder Sabba Keynejad, the platform explained that it meant “aggregation and collaborators, people you’re about to get started.” Features for beginners in AI startups include subtitle generation, translation capabilities, AI avatars, audio creation and typical video editing tools.

veed.io offers free plans, but due to strict restrictions on many features, you will be able to upgrade to a paid plan ($12-29 per month depending on your plan) especially if you’re editing a lot of content. Free videos are also automatically watered out, so you will need to upgrade to remove them.

splice

Splice is what I call a very beginner-friendly program. Describes how to use the tool and does not overload functionality. Splice allows you to choose to manually edit the clip or have your app perform the work and create an AI compilation. I’ve created some of these AI compilations. This is basically just combining all the clips into one timeline. Ultimately, I wanted to go back to manual editing tools for more hands-on control, but I’m grateful that Splice offered the automatic option to those who want to reduce editing work.

This app is perfect for those who want a large stock music library that allows basic tools to be accessed by simply trimming and combining clips. If you want more advanced editing features, we recommend Premier Rush or Final Cut Pro. A 7-day free trial is required before you need to upgrade to the Pro version of Splice for $10 a week or $70 a year.
