Measuring collision
Farmer (33-7-1, 8 Kos) has no obvious reason other than showing that he means business on Saturday. Zepeda spoke no English and smirked silently during the showdown.
The former IBF super featherweight champion farmer was trying to threaten or upset Zepeda. It seems that things didn’t work. Zepeda just kept smiling, showing that she enjoyed the play the Americans brought to the measurements.
Weight
William Zepeda 134.2 vs Tevin Farmer 135
Oscar Colaz 105 vs Edwin Cano 104.4
Both fighters seemed to be already hydrated. Neither guy appears to be drained, which is a sign that they are truly lighter than the bullying of weight. We got a lot of people in the 135 pound division. They appear to be hydrated in the 160s after weighing them, and have no business competing in the department other than using small fighters.
Zepeda defeated Farmer in a 10-round split decision in Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh on November 16th last year. Tevin knocked Zepeda down in the fourth round and fought well despite being defeated in many rounds. In the championship round, Zepeda appeared to pull it out by landing many hard-body shots that were forced to hold by the farmer.
Golden Boy’s Williams promoter chose to pull the trigger in his rematch with Farmer. They could have forced Zepeda to challenge him for a world title, but they wanted to run it back. On Saturday we will see if they took the rematch and made the right decision. If Zepeda loses the fight, promoter Oscar de la Hoya will regret the rematch.
