x announcement On Thursday, it shows that it is launching an experiment to recognize posts that are usually preferred by people who disagree. This experiment utilizes the platform’s crowdsourced community notes feature. This is currently used when content is marked misleading or incorrect.

Starting Thursday, a subset of community note contributors will evaluate feedback on a particular post and display callouts to provide feedback. Callouts will be displayed based on similar activity at the beginning of the post.

X says this feedback will help develop open source algorithms that can identify posts that people with different perspectives prefer.

Contributors are asked to share what they like and do what they dislike about their posts. They can choose options such as “I learned something interesting” or “I don’t agree with it” when giving feedback.

“People often feel the world is split, but community notes show that even on controversial topics people can agree,” X wrote in the post. “This experimental new feature is trying to uncover ideas, insights and opinions that bridge perspectives. It can bring awareness to things that resonate widely. It can motivate people to share those ideas in the first place. Ultimately, it can move the world forward in the way people want.”
