Zepeda Confident Vs. Stevenson: WBC Lightweight Title
William Zepeda watched with confidence today at Queens on Saturday, July 12th, New York’s Grand arrival this Saturday at WBC Lightweight Champion Shakur Stevenson’s title challenge.
Zepeda (33-0, 27 Kos) says he recognizes the skills Shakur (23-0, 11 Kos) brings to the battle, but he takes advantage of the opportunity to win “Write my name in golden letters” A book on history.
Does Zepeda shock Stephenson?
Mexican browler Zepeda says he already has plans for the next day after beating Stephenson. He wants to take a walk around New York’s Central Park with the WBC title.
“I walked and visualized the next day with the title and belt from Central Park,” said William Zepeda today. Arrival of the Grand In New York. “I understand that he has skills, but I will use this opportunity to write in a golden letter in my new victory boxing in history books.”
As fans and odds makers consider this battle a clear victory for Shakur, if Zepeda wins, it will be a huge upset. Few people are giving Zepeda a great opportunity in this fight. That wasn’t the case before Zepeda’s two fights with Tevin Farmer. The issue where he bets a 35-year-old farmer makes fans doubt the possibility of defeating Stephenson.
What people forget is the punishment that the peasants had to take in those battles. Despite running and holding a lot of time, Farmer was badly assaulted in both contests. We saw the later period of what Tevin did when he was knocked out in the first round in the next fight.
It is doubtful whether Shakur will be able to take half a shot from Zepeda without giving in on Saturday. Running, holding and using his stiff arms may not be enough for Shakur to hold Zepeda down. He will have to fight him.
“This is my spot. This is my opportunity. I can’t wait to show it to the fans I really have,” Shakur Stephenson said. “There is a lot of doubt, there is a lot of hatred, there are a lot of people who think I am not the one I am saying.
They saw Shakur’s fight with Edwin de los Santos, so the suspicious people are there and pointed out that he ran the entire 12 rounds. He had no offensive other than Peck and running.
The judges gave Stephenson a great break by praiseping such a fight. Hardcore fans have seen low-level opposition Shakur match since Delos Santos gave him an inert Artem Haltiunyan, who feeds electrician Josh Padry and lightly hits.
Stevenson’s “Jerry” strategy: Why?
If you’re calling “Jerry,” I’m whohoping Tom’s a**. That’s what I’m coming here. Tom Jerry, Jerry is certainly Tom’s a**. The belt is mother f**** a**.”
Shakur’s comments about Tom and Jerry were in response to being asked about what Turki Aralsif said.
Many people believed the comments were directed at Stevenson. That fight resembles a mouse chased by a cat on rare occasions where he fights good opposition. Like the last two fights between Padry and Hartieunyan, when he matches weakly, Stevenson can stand in his pocket and mix it up. He doesn’t do that when he fights a man in power.
“He’s going to stick to his MO by keeping him in range and using the advantages of that left hand,” commentator Sergio Mora said. “His accuracy is why it’s so hard to beat Shakur Stevenson. That’s not power.”
Stevenson: Is it old school or outdated?
Stevenson is a 1990s potshot fighter and an old, outdated type of Mayweather. He is a fighter throw from a bygone generation before the advent of the internet, cable television and other combat sports.
People have wanted to see runners in the past due to the lack of entertainment options, but they are not. It can’t be done without hurting the event and hurting the promoter posting money because fans don’t want to see that style of fight.
