Even its cheapest models to offer driver assistance like Tesla
Chinese electric car maker BYD has announced “God’s Eye,” an advanced driver assistance system that will be installed throughout the model lineup, including the $9,600 Seagull hatchback.
“We are entering an era where autonomous driving is being carried out for everyone,” BYD founder Wang Chuanfu said at a live streaming event on Monday. Financial Times.
God’s Eye typically performs autonomous driving functions exclusively for high-end EVs, such as remote parking via smartphone apps and tasks such as Highway Autonomous Navigation.
BYD is Tesla’s biggest rival in China, the second largest market for American automakers. The BYD offering comes from Tesla as the company seeks to win Beijing regulatory approval to deploy “fully autonomous” technology.
BYD also joined a cohort of local automakers such as Geely, Wall Wall Motor and Leapmotor on Monday to consolidate the Chinese AI startups Deepseek’s AI in the vehicle system.
