Inside the photo: An early image of the majestic Himalayas by an Italian photographer
Vittorio Sella was a pioneering Italian photographer whose works shaped both mountain photography and mountaineering history at the turn of the century.
His unusual image of the Himalayas remains some of the most iconic things ever captured.
The new ongoing show in Delhi, the capital of India, is called Vittorio Serra.
Curated by renowned British explorer and author Hugh Thomson and organized by the Delhi Art Gallery (DAG), the show is perhaps one of Serra’s biggest collections of Indian views.
It features some of the earliest highlands of Kanchenjunga, the third tallest mountain in the world, and K2, the second tallest mountain in the world, taken more than a century ago.
