Joy Behar accuses America of being “named after a white man”
“The View” co-host Joy Behar ranted a rumour on Thursday about where the US got its name as America discussed President Donald Trump, who will rename the Gulf of Mexico.
“Was this country where we are located settled indigenous people? Still, they named it after Amerigo Vespucci, a white man from Italy.
“If they settled in Indigenous people, why was it named after a white person?” Behar continued.
The co-host discussed the Trump White House, which bans Associated Press from an event at the Oval Office on Tuesday, as the outlet refused to use the term “American Bay” according to President Trump. Rename of the executive order Waters between the United States and Mexico.

Co-host Sarah Haynes said renaming of water bodies is relatively common.
“The waters of southern China, which most of the world calls the South China Sea, China calls it the South Sea, Vietnam calls it the East Sea, and the Philippines designates part of it as the West Philippines Sea,” she said. I said. “That’s why it happens.”
Behar then argued that Trump should not focus on changing the name of the water body.

“Plastic straws and the American Bay, give me a break,” the liberal co-host added.
Associated Press Executive Editor Julie Pace said the outlet was prohibited from attending Trump’s signature of an executive order.
“We are wary of the Trump administration’s punishment of the Associated Press for independent journalism,” Pace said in a statement. “Restricting access to an oval office based on the content of the AP’s speech not only severely hinders public access to independent news, but is clearly a violation of the initial revision.”

Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said there was no problem with the name change and insisted it was more comprehensive.
“I don’t hate changing names America Gulfand I’m going to tell you why. That’s a more comprehensive term. North America, Mexico and the US are part of the Americas. If he called it “US Gulf,” it would be a trivial thing, she said.
