In an interview with Forbes in February 2024, Costner, who previously directed the films Dance with Wolves, Open Range and The Postman, explained his approach to filmmaking.
“I don’t play in the fanbase as much as I play to people who are willing to go to the theatre and take them to places they don’t imagine,” he said. “I don’t ignore the fanbase on any level, but when it comes to the stories I want to share, I don’t live up to anyone else’s ideas other than me.”
