LA Sparks faced backlash online to post semi-repeat photos of players

Los Angeles Sparks This week, some users fired on social media for posts that they sexually claimed one of their team’s players.

Sparks X Page shared posts Tuesday afternoon teasing team games Seattle Storm Later that night.

This post shared the graphic of rookie guard Sarah Ashley Barker wearing what looked like a crop top.

“Back in front of the house crowd,” the post said, adding more details about the game.

Fans didn’t seem impressed with the decision to post a Barker dressed like that.

“Where is the man in the jersey?” wrote one user.

“These Gameday posts are frying me. There’s nothing Uni, nothing, just thirst traps,” another added.

Another user said, “If this is official team communication, what opportunities does women’s sports have? Are you playing in lingerie? Then put it in Gameday’s FKN jersey.”

Last week, Sparks Forward Cameron Brink faced similar criticism from fans online, denounced the previous first-round pick for spending more time on “walking and smashing down the red carpet” than rehabilitating an ACL injury.

“She should have returned to the court now. She says that if something is as much rehabilitating as she walks down the red carpet and schmoosing, she’ll be back,” fans wrote in the comment that she posted to her Instagram story last week.
