Openai plans to open an office in Germany
Openai has expanded its footprint to Germany. According to the press release The ChatGpt maker, published on Friday, is set to open an office in Munich in the coming months.
“Germany is renowned for its technical expertise, academic excellence and industrial innovation,” Openai CEO Sam Altman said in a statement. “Opening the first office in Germany means we can help more people, businesses and institutions benefit from the possibilities of AI.”
According to a press release, Openai has been discussing opening a German satellite office with German officials since 2023. In Europe, Germany has the largest number of users built on Openai’s technology, according to Startup.
An Openai spokesman told TechCrunch in an email that he would hire for his office to go to markets where the office will start, global operations and communications roles. They refused to share details on the number of roles.
The new, open home in Southern Germany comes after the San Francisco-based company opened offices in Paris, Brussels and Dublin to enhance its EU presence.
