Trump administrators hit the brakes with a $500 million electric vehicle charging station program

The Federal Highways Administration (FHWA) has sent out the brakes on the program to emit funds to the state Electric car Charging infrastructure.
Moves on the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program will take less than a month for the president Donald TrumpSecond term in his tenure.
In a letter dated February 6th to the State Department of Transportation Directors, Emily Biondi, assistant manager of the Planning, Environment and Real Estate Office, discussed the move.

“The new leadership of the Department of Transport (US DOT) has decided to consider the policies underlying the implementation of the NEVI Formula Program. Therefore, the current NEVI Formula Program Guidance dated June 11, 2024, is the guidance provided by this guidance. All previous versions of this is cancelled,” Biondi pointed out.
“As a result of the withdrawal of the NEVI Formula Program Guidance, FHWA has immediately stopped approval of all state electric vehicle infrastructure deployment plans for all fiscal years. Guidance for the final updated NEVI Formula Program has been issued. , a new state plan will be submitted and approved,” the letter states.

“Directions for submitting new state plans for all fiscal years will be included in the guidance for the updated final NEVI Formula Program. The state will not implement existing plans as FHWA has suspended existing state plans. This will result in harmlessness. A refund of existing obligations will be permitted to avoid disrupting the current financial commitment issued,” Biondi’s letter states.
